I would wholeheartedly recommend the Maritim Guest House to anyone wishing to visit Cilandak. The accommodation was spot on and the staff consistently went out of their way to make me feel at home. Not being familiar with the area, they were most helpful in providing directions and anticipating my needs. The highlight for me was the wonderful meals – felt like I was having a home cooked dinner every night! Keep the good work up. Look forward to staying with you again.

I found the staff very welcoming and helpful. My room was spotless, the wifi is great and the food is delicious and made with love. It was hard to believe I was staying so close to a very busy area, felt very relaxed, I hope to stay again in the future.

I would highly recommend staying at the Maritim Guest House. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The food is excellent. There is a nice garden to sit in and enjoy. Don, Ita and the staff are all wonderful hosts – helpful, friendly, nice people. I really enjoyed my stay …. did I mention the food was good…. 🙂

It was a very enjoyable stay in the Maritim. I can recommend this guesthouse, very clean, comfortable and modern, and the food really special. Best home-baked muffins and bagels I’ve ever had in a hotel or guesthouse, and choice of American or Indonesian home cooking. We had breakfast and lunch or dinner and the meals were beautifully presented, everything fresh and home-made. This friendly guesthouse was quite a find in crowded Jakarta, and we were really well looked after, thanks Don and Ita

The MARITIM Guesthouse is a beautiful, safe & quiet oasis in pretty much downtown hectic, polluted Jakarta.

Feeling honored to be the first official guest; I got a nice & comfortable room with all facilities with a hygienic clean, well designed bathroom and felt instantly at home. The gentle staff surrounded me with pleasant attention, and the cook produced every day delicious food using ingredients from the organic garden of the territory. She made very exclusive jams, muffins, fresh fruits for breakfast and always asked me what I wished for dinner, I most appreciated her flavoring Indonesian dishes. The food was really good, excellent tea, good coffee, organic ice-cream and cookies! Fantastic.

When I returned tired after a trip, the guards always recognized me and immediately the gate was opened, I felt protected.

I enjoyed to have conversations with Don, the thoughtful owner, and his wife and thus got useful tips about the must-sees and inside-outs of the metropolis. I felt terribly spoilt with care.

I thank both for their tremendous efforts to grant me a pleasant stay. I will come back and then want to relax on the new terrace viewing the garden.

Hartelijk dank voor alles, Rachel

My stay was amazing. Such peace and calm in the middle of a very busy, exciting city. The food was great. Staff very sweet. And my room was spotless and cozy. Great place for a home base… work or play in a wonderful country!

Unique Qualities: The garden was amazing. Beautiful trees and calm. Kind of shocking to find such a treasure in the middle of a very fun city that never sleeps!

This place is really great. Clean rooms, wonderful service, great bathrooms (good water pressure in the shower, hot water, etc), fast wifi. The staff are all lovely and friendly and so helpful, the food is awesome, and the whole environment is a wonderful respite from the madness of Jakarta. We would stay here again no question.

“Lovely peaceful spot to stay!” by KP, NYC, USA 5 of 5 stars

This is a clean guest house with good rooms. It is in a safe neighborhood. The owners are very friendly and it is easy to talk with them and the other guests. The food is freshly cooked or baked and is great. I felt very much at home and well taken care of. One evening, I was coughing a bit in my room and in 2 minutes, there was a knock on the door. When I opened, it was the owner with a packet of fisherman’s friend saying, “this will help”. I would recommend this place to anyone who plans to visit Jakarta.

Just got back from a 18 day stay in and around Jakartra…I found a real GEM!
Not sure which would rate the highest, the fabulous and authentic Indo. meals, the super knowledgeable owners, or the really interesting guests that stay there.
For a very reasonable price I got a very clean and modern room, served 2 meals of delicious traditional food using produce from their organic garden (which you can browse around) and met some great people that I will stay in touch with.
Can’t thank Don and Eta Smith enough. Very knowledgeable about the area and just so fun to sit and chat with.

I would highly recommend this guesthouse to anyone passing through Jakarta that is looking for comfort, calm and value for money. I stayed here on two seperate occasions for work and I cannot recommend it highly enough!.

The highlight is definately the food. Healthy homemade Indonesian dishes that are devine and breakfast that comes with freshly baked banana bread and muffins!. In addition, the hosts (Don and Ita with the help of Ratna) will adapt menus for your dietary needs!

The house itself is spotlessly clean and very comfortable. I could also exercise on Ita’s treadmill and continue working using the broadband in my room. I really dont think i can do justice in this review to the hard work, attentiveness and perfected hospitality that i experienced when i stayed at Maritim. As a regular traveller for work, i often end up in overbearing hotels that are not pitched towards my kind of travel – comfortable, healthy and hassel free. Maritim Guesthouse meets all this and more.

Life in ‘the big durian’ (Jakarta) is hard but its made much easier if you stay at MaritimGuest House!

“A true home away from home!” by AndreaMcPherson, Norwich, UK – 5 of 5 stars

After a lot of search on the internet for a clean, affordable, serene, safe place to live in Jakarta found Maritim Guest House (MGH) and what a find it was. A place which originally was planned to be a stay for 10 nights turned out to be my home away from home in Jakarta for 7 months. Room 3 – one of the best room at MGH had everything that i could expect as a working professional to have a place to stay – blazing fast wireless internet connection, big king size bed, study table, TV with many international channels and also the HBO channels for the latest movies, small refrigerator, clean big bathroom/toilet with hot water all the time, excellent laundry service. Outside the room the security was amazing with rule of friends not allowed on the property working well to maintain good security. Breakfast menu – scrambled eggs, breads baked inhouse, muffins, cookies baked in house, fresh fruits from garden on the property. Lunch/dinner – organic red/brown rice, vegetables, fresh meats from the best suppliers and off course free flow of tea, coffee from countries like Malaysia, China, India and off course the local javanese. Staff – local and trained by very experienced hotelier from USA blending east-west service style and giving a proffessional service along with the uniqueness of Indonesian culture and mannerism, very friendly, many could speak in very good English and very proactive/preemptive actions to make you comfortable.

I found MGH quite by accident when I was looking for a decent place to stay while on business in the Jakarta Selatan district. The experience exceeded my expectations – the privacy, clean bedrooms and bathrooms, homely environment, good service and hospitality of the owners and staff. I was most surprised by the hearty breakfasts, and unlike many other places, I got to choose another main meal as part of the package – what a great deal! Not just any meal, but tasty, nutritiously prepared food. After long days out in the city battling traffic, it’s good to get home to MGH. Now, even as I am needed in other parts of Jakarta, I keep going back to stay at MGH, Jakarta’s best kept secret.
